Lead Paint ServicesHome Buyer's Checklist: · You have 90 days after acquiring title to the property to comply with the state's lead law. · If the property has already been inspected and found to comply with the law, a re-inspection is not necessary. · The previous owner and real estate agent must tell you of the known lead hazards and show you previous inspection reports. · Beware! The seller of the property is NOT required by law to have it inspected for a lead hazard. · You, however, have a right to ask that the property be inspected for a lead hazard before you buy it. NOTE: Homeowners and their agents do not need to be Licensed Deleaders to do low-risk deleading work. They must follow the steps per Massachusetts Department of Public Health Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, and they should contact them for further information.
