Structural Services

Engineering services and third party inspections differ from a Massachusetts Home Inspection. Engineering inspections are technical in nature as opposed to a Home Inspection, and detail analysis will be performed whenever needed. Some of the situations which engineering services are employed are:

» Structural issues that may arise from a home inspection, i.e. foundation walls that are identified as suspect for sustaining the weight of a house.

» The ability to add to an existing structure. Walls may have to be altered to accommodate some additions. Many walls are load bearing and have to be properly re-enforced to accommodate the proposed changes. Engineering drawings and or calculations must be submitted to the local building inspector for approval.

» New structures - House plans need to be engineered to comply with Massachusetts codes. A sound design saves money and time and also delivers a better product. An engineered house also specifies state of the art apparatus and systems making for a more efficient house.

» House problems - Air quality, moisture problems, mechanical system performances, settling concerns, water drainage and erosion concerns.

Engineering services are estimated at a rate of $150.00 per hour. To establish fees, a specification or a detailed discussion will be needed. Call or e-mail to discuss with one of our engineers.
